Online Series: Movement Ritual & Dance Explorations: Opening to Our Aliveness with Joy Cosculluela

Honoring Anna Halprin’s Birthday
4 Mondays, July 11, 18, 25, Aug. 1st | 10 – 11:30AM Pacific Time | $70/series

“Imagine how alive you would be if your kinesthetic sense were to be heightened and cultivated beyond its present consciousness.”
–Anna Halprin

This workshop is an invitation to make time and space for our bodies to let go of restrictive tension and soften, to tune in to internal sensations and enliven movement expression. Each session explores a sequence from Movement Ritual I, II, or III, tapping into the kinesthetic language of the spine and its connections. We awaken our senses as a key that opens the door to feeling, imagination, and aliveness. From the ground to standing, to moving through space, we connect to the life-affirming nature of who we are as creative beings. At the end of the series, we will witness and be witnessed with our movement, drawing and writing.

No dance or art background needed. Only a willingness to explore!

Participants will explore structured movements devised by Anna Halprin that enhance range of movement and spark creative expression. Drawing and writing enrich our movement experiences. Please have a comfortable space to move. Open to all. No dance or art experience needed.

To get the most out of this online series, please prepare a comfortable space to move in with access to your online device. Also, have art supplies ready at hand for drawing activities, and paper and pen for journaling and creative writing exercises.

Please note: Tamalpa does not record nor permit the recording of any classes or workshops due to the sensitive and sometimes vulnerable nature of the work, and to protect student privacy.
