Online Series: Movement Ritual and Dance Explorations: Exploring and Playing with Space with Joy Cosculluela

4 Mondays, Sept 12, 19, 26, Oct. 3rd | 10 – 11:30AM Pacific Time | $70/series

In this workshop, we tune in to our kinesthetic sense and explore how we stand, move through space, and interact with the architectural elements in our personal space. We draw on Movement Ritual II, III, and IV for resources in our explorations. We pay attention to where we go and how we get there. We notice how we relate to our surroundings through our vision and notice the different feelings that come about. As we attend to our personal space, we also attend to our social space, the online platform that connects us and/ or challenges the way we connect with each other. We’ll explore our “edges” as we navigate this space and play with possibilities.  As we invite attentiveness and curiosity in our dances, we also open to more aliveness in our daily lives.

Participants will explore structured movements devised by Anna Halprin that enhance range of movement and spark creative expression. Drawing and writing enrich our movement experiences. Please have a comfortable space to move.

Open to all. No dance or art experience needed.

To get the most out of this online series, please prepare a comfortable space to move in with access to your online device. Also, have art supplies ready at hand for drawing activities, and paper and pen for journaling and creative writing exercises.

Please note: Tamalpa does not record nor permit the recording of any classes or workshops due to the sensitive and sometimes vulnerable nature of the work, and to protect student privacy.
