ARTCORPS APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Please read the following information carefully BEFORE applying for an ArtCorps Scholarship. Ensure you meet all the requirements below before applying. Only applicants who meet all application qualifications will be considered.

Application Qualifications: Partial scholarships will be awarded to professional artists and individuals from underrepresented groups working in the fields of social justice and community service. Demonstration of artistic and/or community engagement, as well as financial need, will be required. Award amounts can range from $1,000 to $2,500, but not exceeding $2,500.

ArtCorps Scholarship applicants must commit to completing all three levels of the Tamalpa training program.

Personal Statement
Personal Statement: As part of your application we ask you to submit: 1. A Personal Statement that includes the following points (up to 2 pages single spaced): a. Professional/personal experience in the areas of social engagement or social justice. b. Populations that you are working with and/or would like to work with. c. How and where do you envision applying the Tamalpa work? d. Do you intend to pursue the 3 levels of training at Tamalpa? e. Include any professional/personal experience that you feel is relevant. f. Extenuating financial circumstances that you feel should be considered. Level 1 Applicants: If you are applying for the Level 1 training, please combine your ArtCorps Personal Statement and your Autobiographical Essay in your Level 1 Application Packet into just one complete essay.

Letter of Recommendation (for Level 1 Applicants only)
Please attach here (or email to office@tamalpa.org) one letter of recommendation specifically written for the ArtCorps Scholarship application. The letter of recommendation must be written by: a. Current or former supervisors/mentors/colleagues who can specifically address the applicant’s role in projects or activities discussed in the applicant’s personal statement. b. Groups or organizations that have benefited from the programs and/or activities discussed in the applicant’s personal statement. If you are applying to Level 1 Weekend or Immersion, you will also need two regular letters of recommendation, instructions for which can be found on the admissions page or in the Level 1 Application form.
