Tamalpa Institute/European Graduate School: Combined Degree Program Option
TI is pleased to continue its affiliation with the European Graduate School in Switzerland, offering students of our training programs MA and PhD degree options in Expressive Arts Therapy. EGS also offers a BA waiver program for eligible students.
In combination with L 1, 2 and 3 trainings at Tamalpa Institute, students in the MA program attend three summer sessions at EGS, with the third summer session including the presentation of thesis work. The PhD program consists of two summer sessions leading to dissertation work. The EGS faculty features several of the founders of the field of Expressive Arts Therapy, including Paolo Knill, Ellen Levine, Stephen K. Levine and Margot Fuchs. The EGS program follows an art-based, community oriented, adult-learning model. EGS is situated in the mountain town of Saas Fee in the Swiss Alps. The student body is drawn from a range of countries all over the world.
The European Graduate School is also pleased to announce the opening of a new program in Expressive Arts and Social Change, beginning in 2007, leading to a Master of Advanced Professional Studies (MAPS) certificate. The program is designed to train expressive arts students to use their skills in coping with communities in crisis and conflict, both at home and abroad. The program consists of two summer schools at EGS, with a field-work placement in between. Tamalpa students who wish to go on to achieve a Master of Arts in Expressive Arts Therapy with a Concentration in Social Change can do so by completing the MAPS program, writing a thesis and attending one more summer school at EGS. Full details of the program can be found on the website at www.expressiveartsandsocialchange.org
The EGS degree program may be taken concurrently with any level of TI training, or may be taken following any segment of TI training. Participation in L 1, 2 and 3 training is required for this degree program option.
